Pre-Vet Opportunity! International Wildlife Rehabilitation Symposium in Fort Lauderdale-2011

The International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council invites students to join them this November for the 2011 Symposium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This exciting learning and networking event offers students of Biology, Veterinary Technology, Wildlife Ecology, Pre-veterinary/Pre-health, Veterinary Medicine, Zoology or students of any discipline with an interest in wildlife issues the following opportunities to:
• Attend educational seminars and professional peer-reviewed papers presented by veterinarians, wildlife rehabilitation professionals, and biological researchers from around the world.
• Network and learn in informal settings (lunches, dinners, and cocktail hours) from wildlife care industry leaders from Florida and worldwide (veterinarians, conservation biologists, center leaders, professional rehabilitators).
• Take the IWRC's professional course in Basic Wildlife Rehabilitation for 13 state-recognized credit hours. This course covers the basics of wildlife rehabilitation including a hands-on cadaver lab to learn essential rehabilitation techniques. Learn more about this course at www.theiwrc.org (not included in symposium price). (Note - restrictions may apply with regard to transferability of credits to USF)
• Take a guided field trip to the everglades and tour and meet the staff of the South Florida Wildlife Center.
• Take International Bird Rescue's course in Oil-Spill Recovery (tentatively scheduled).

This is a great opportunity for students to improve their resumes with professional credentials, network with professionals in the field of wildlife rehabilitation, and gain valuable up-to-date scientific information and practice in hands-on animal rehab. To enable students to take advantage of this opportunity, the IWRC will provide a 10% discount per student to any department or club that registers 5 or more students to attend the conference. The Early Bird registration price for the three-day symposium is $160 for IWRC members and $190 for the general public (if registered prior to July 1st).
