Summer USDA Internships!

The HACU National Internship Program (HNIP), a non-profit organization, is looking for students from biology, wildlife, forestry, ornithology, and ecology to fill internships with the USDA this summer (mid-June through mid-August, dates below). Our program requires no tuition or fees and provides participants with a stipend of $450 to $550 per week, healthcare benefits, full travel funds, and housing arrangements.

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National
Internship Program (HNIP), recruits college students for summer- and
semester-long paid internships at federal agencies and private
corporations in Washington, D.C. and throughout the country. These ten and
fifteen week internship programs are designed to allow college students to
gain professional development experience that will enable them to make
educated career choices. All college, graduate, and professional students may apply.

Sophomore/Junior $450/week • Senior $480/week • Graduate/Law/Med $550/week
Housing arrangements and airfare to and from internship sites are provided by HNIP.

Spring 2009: January 15 to May 2—application has passed
Summer 2009: June 5 to August 15 (alternative dates available)—application still open
Fall 2009: August 27 to December 12—application deadline June 19, 2009

1. Be authorized or eligible to work by law in the United States
2. Have completed their freshman year of college before the internship begins
3. Have a 3.0 GPA (preferred)

General Chemistry Peer Leaders Needed for Fall 2009

Fall 2009: CHM 4932 - Peer Leading (for General Chemistry I)*

Did you earn an A or B in CHM 2045/2046?* Need to review general chemistry before that big entrance exam?* Do you enjoy helping other students and contributing to their success?* Do you want a unique leadership experience?* Do you have some free time on Fridays? Then CHM 4932 Peer Leading is the course for you! As a peer leader, you will have the opportunity to work with the students in General Chemistry now to help them succeed. CHM 4932 can be used towards Biomedical Science, Chemistry, and Interdisciplinary Natural Sciences majors, and it is an excellent upper-level elective and experience for students in other majors.
